Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility

For Mirades Security, social responsibility and sustainable development become an essential premise for the achievement of its mission of protecting companies, people and infrastructure given the need to understand the behaviours of individuals in interaction with its social and ecological environment.

Mirades Security Inc. is willing to do its part and adopt a Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility Policy.  Sustainable development aims to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.  It is based on a long-term vision that takes into account the inseparable nature of the environmental, social and economic dimensions of development activities (source). This principle, when applied at the company level, is called Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).  

Framework

Mirades Security’s Policy is inspired by the management principles presented in the Sustainable Development Act, the general principles on which it is based are shown in the following figure.  The federal government also has a sustainable development act.

Corporate Strategy

The strategy adopted by Mirades Security aims to include the search for sustainable development in all its activities, in its internal policies and programs, so that all team members participate in the transition to a more prosperous, green, and responsible practice. Our sustainability and social responsibility strategy focuses on a range of environmental and philanthropic initiatives.

Mirades Security has adopted rules of ethics that set out the principles that must guide the conduct of team members in the context of their work.  These principles are intended to ensure the integrity, honesty, and professionalism of all, at all times.  Mirades Security is recognized for its expertise in providing superior security solutions and services, and these rules are in line with its mission to protect people, assets, and reputations in the digital and physical arenas.  Here are the 10 rules:

  1. Act with humility, judgment, and integrity

  2. Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and policies

  3. Treat others with respect

  4. Protect the confidentiality of information

  5. Avoid conflicts of interest

  6. Refuse any gift that violates the Code

  7. Avoid incompatible business activities and exercise restraint in outside activities

  8. Comply with the rules governing personal transactions

  9. Use resources appropriately

  10. Adhere to the Code and report any non-compliance

Ethics and Deontology

Accountability

Mirades Security has implemented a process to ensure the sustainability of its sustainable development objectives and to ensure the continuous improvement of its approach.  This approach makes it possible to maintain the interest of the team members, to observe the evolution and performance of each action and the means used, thus allowing adjustments to be made.  The review of Mirades Securtiy’s sustainable development activities will be conducted annually.

The members of the team are an essential asset to the success of Mirades Security’s sustainable development and social responsibility plan.  A skills development plan has been implemented to ensure continuous accountability among the team members. Training that enables understanding of the challenges related to sustainable development and raises awareness for applying them will be offered to all team members, providing them with the maximum tools to acquire skills.

Mirades Security, its clients, and partners constantly refer to the highest standards, internationally recognized standards adopted by the industry as best practices for the realization of all its mandates:

  • ISO 31000, ISO 26000, ISO 9001, ISO14001

  • ASIS International

  • Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED)

  • Etc.

 

Mirades Security has also developed a strategic plan to better achieve its sustainable development and social responsibility commitments.  The plan includes the following activities:

Diversified Company

Mirades Security aims for the inclusion of all and sees each human being as a whole being deserving of respect in all spheres of their life, but especially at work.  Mirades Security offers freedom of identification and association to all members of its team and encourages them in their quest for personal or societal goals.  Mirades Security is made up of majority female shareholders.

Mirades Security is a company founded and headquartered in Quebec.  Although Mirades conducts business internationally, its clients are mainly local and Quebec companies.  Mirades Security is also present among small and medium-sized companies, generously providing support and advice.

Local Business

Environmental Management

Mirades Security’s ecological footprint is negligible.  Mirades Security is a security service provider that operates online the vast majority of the time.  All employees of the company work from home and do not have to travel to work on a daily basis.  Mirades Security must exceptionally visit its clients to perform on-site inspections. The use of public transit and carpooling is encouraged.

Documentation, work plans, communications are all done electronically, and paper printing is almost non-existent.

Mirades Security is actively involved in the community and promotes the involvement and participation of its employees in the various organized initiatives. Mirades Security also encourages its team members to carry out philanthropic activities by ensuring the employee's salary for the time spent on their volunteering activities.

Mirades Security is actively involved with the Alzheimer Society (Laval), as a sponsor, not only by supporting them by participating in organized activities, but also by carrying out pro bono mandates for the Society.  

​

Mirades Security is also active in the teaching community to promote the development of the next generation, in connection with the security community, through courses offered at the Université de Montréal.

  • Annual participation in the Walk for Alzheimer's and collection of donations

Community Involvement

Employee Benefits

Mirades Security is a small, growing company with five full-time employees, three of whom are shareholders.  There is currently no health and dental insurance plan offered to employees, as Mirades Security has chosen to benefit its employees in other ways for the time being. Benefits needs will be reassessed as the business evolves.

Mirades Security is a small and growing company, always looking for new talent. Mirades Security aims to be inclusive and egalitarian in the choice of its employees.
